Caustic Calcined Magnesia Synonym Magnesium oxide;Magnesia; Calcined magnesia; Magnesia clinker; Deadburned magnesite CAS No.1309-48-4 |
 | Properties MgO, molecular weight: 40.32; white powder (equal-axis crystal system); relative weight: 3.2~3.7; melting point: 2850℃; dissolve in acid and become magnesium salt; dissolvable in ammonium salt but not solvable in alkaline; slightly soluble in water and become magnesium hydroxide; namely, slightly solve in water and generate alkaline reaction; absorb carbonate and water in the air and part of it becomes magnesium hydroxide 3MgCO3·Mg(OH)2·3H2O. It’s divided into baked magnesium (800~900℃) and dead-burned magnesium (1500~1600℃) according to the baking and burning temperature.
